Aminoglycosides are the naturally occurring organic molecules which are used clinically for the treatment of aerobic gram-negative bacterial infection because of their rapid anti-bacterial activity, chemical stability and ability to work in combination with the other drugs. However, toxic side-effects, growing bacterial resistance and poor oral bioavailability have narrowed the significance of aminoglycosides.
