Good mental and physical health during adolescence is important for successful transition into adulthood. The lifestyles adopted by adolescents often continue into later years and influence their long term prospects for health and well-being. The broader views of health determinants from a Quality of Life (QOL) perspective direct attention to these factors and shows promise for enhancing the physical and mental health of adolescents. This book describes a longitudinal study investigating QOL for adolescents with and without a chronic condition and its influencing factors over a six-month period. It also quantifies variations in QOL patterns with respect to the relevant risk and protective factors.
