Lou, Dill and 14 of their Texas cowhands have brought a herd to Independence, Missouri. After selling half the cattle to a wagon train heading West, the Texans decide to sign on to lead the pioneers across the Missouri River and the Nebraska Territory and into the wilds past Fort Laramie.
